Anna Michaels…
was born in Shanghai, China. After coming to the United States she worked extensively in the Theatre both in Los Angeles and New York including having founded Theatre Rapport and being involved in over two dozen productions as both an Actor and Director. Anna is a member of Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild.
Anna teaches at the New York Institute of Technology in New York City where she is currently Professor of Behavioral Sciences. She has extensive experience teaching English both in China and the United States and has written a textbook for Aston School in Dalian China, Acting for Non-Actors: English through Theatre.
Currently The Shanghai Municipality has given her a grant to complete a course book for Tongji University for graduate students, using her Methodology for teaching out the box English through theatre.
In the past few years Anna has been a Foreign Expert and Guest of Tongji and East China Normal Universities, giving Workshops, Lectures, and participating in their Annual contest in the adaption and performance of a major Western based play. She also continues to perform her One-Woman Show, "The Kindness of Strangers: Tennessee's Women," for a broader audience as well as at Universities. Most recently, Anna performed T. S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock with original music for a string quartet written and performed by East China Normal University's graduate students as part their music festival. Anna is fluent in three languages, Russian, Spanish, and English, as well as being a student of Mandarin.
A frequent guest Poet at several venues in New York City including New York University, City University of New York, Poets House, and Poets and Writers. Anna has been a featured Resident Poet at Shakespeare and Co. Books in Paris, France. She has also presented her work at the Moscow Conservatory of Music with an oral and PowerPoint presentation of her heritage in China, and her One-Woman Show. Her poetry and prose have been published in the United States, Canada, and Europe, including Great Britain.
